[Updated 16th May 2025] We are pleased to announce that we have completed the migration of our customer base from Skype to Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft didn’t give us much notice of Skype’s demise, but we have developed an integration with Teams to enable CallGenie to automatically answer video calls from family and friends. This has made the transition to a new platform much easier for our customers.
There was a lot of interest in Teams within our customer base particularly from those who use Microsoft productivity tools in their daily working lives. Another obvious benefit of using Teams is that the business version is widely used by Heath and Social Care practitioners. This will open up some interesting opportunities for them to provide TeleCare services to CallGenie users.
To make CallGenie more resilient for the future, we also decided to investigate alternatives to Teams, particular open source solutions. The one we are going forward with is Jami (https://jami.net).
We first started to evaluate Jami in 2024. It is a free, end-to-end encrypted, private communication solution that is available on all major operating systems for smart phones, tablets and personal computers. Jami is developed by Savoir Faire Linux Inc in Montreal, Canada in collaboration with a global community of users and contributors.
We like Jami because it is easy to set up and does not require any personal information, including email addresses and phone numbers, to create an account. All communications are peer-to-peer and end-to-end encrypted, making it very secure.
Ultimately, we will be closely monitoring the development of both solutions and let our customers decide which communication solution is best for their own individual needs.
We understand you may have questions, if you would like to get in contact then please email us at info@smart-life-solutions.co.uk
Thank you for trusting CallGenie as your communication solution.
👉 Order today with confidence—your CallGenie will be fully supported irrespective of the video calling software in use
